A positive attitude is the cornerstone for a successful career in sales. Amidst all the negativity, the doom and gloom, maintaining a positive behaviour while interacting with your colleagues, clients and seniors will unlock good vibes around yourself, which in turn will have a beneficial effect on your sales numbers.

For a salesperson, keeping a level head and be in the best of attitudes day in and day out is a tough job. While its true that a sales job is one of the hardest and has a high turnover rate, the percentage of performance problems that sales managers see in their teams is due to poor attitude, rather than a lack of skill.

For the record, the attitude of a sales rep determines whether a customer will take interest in a product or not, let alone buy it. The ability to stay positive right from the moment you strike a conversation with the customer to the point when he is convinced that he will buy the product from you, will make a difference in sales figures.

And that is why sales reps with a beaming, positive attitude are always ahead in the sales game and are constantly a winner in it. While sales can be a tough nut to crack for them but staying optimistic makes the job a fun-filled affair.

Believe in your selling ability: You don’t have to be a Grand Cardone to be a winner in the sales game. Just believe in your selling abilities, and half the war is won. Backing your instinct at every step of the sales game and keeping the confidence high will also have a positive effect on the customer and egg him on to know more about your product. Remember if you don’t trust your ability to sell, smart customers will see through your intentions and snub you on your face. So, all you need is to keep your thoughts positive.

Treat your customer like a million bucks:  Customers hunker for attention and love to be cajoled. No matter how a customer acts or behaves during a sales process, if you treat them like millionaires, they will surely act like millionaires. Look down the line people may not remember how much money they had spent on the product or whether they really needed that thing; but they will obviously talk about how well you treated them with utmost attention and respect. Your positive attitude towards others and your ability to make them feel special will go on a long way in making a difference in sales.

Visualize the deal as closed before they actually are: Sounds weird, isn’t it! Truth is if we constantly think and believe about achieving a particular thing, chances are it will happen. So while selling a deal, if you visualize the entire process till closure even before you have confronted the customer, your mental forces will put you in that frame of mind that will eventually lead you to that goal.

Remember thoughts are very powerful, and thoughts have the ability to make or break a sales deal. Believe it or not, a positive attitude towards your peers and customers will reward you with a blazing success and edge you ahead of the competition; since, sales starts with you, not your customers.
