Edge at the Future of Real Estate Summit, 2019, Mumbai

Rarely do grey cells of the real estate industry come together to discuss issues as well as opportunities that the sector poses. On December 12th, the EDGE team at Square Yards got a chance to interact with the who’s who of Indian real estate, gathered at the Future of Sales and Marketing – Real Estate Summit in Mumbai, curated by UBS Forums.

An interesting observation from the summit was that in the middle of this slowdown that the sector is facing, the developer community is positive and feels that the 3 big policy shifts – Demonetization / GST / RERA – will actually turn out to be boon and will make the outlook towards industry positive and this will be beginning of ‘Good Times’.

The major take away from the conference was the changing outlook towards technology. The industry has been a late adopter of technology, but a faster one. Many speakers discussed how adoption of technology is helping them streamline the unorganized element of the sector and making sales teams more productive. The sector which was always offline dominated is now showing sharp adaptation to technology. And that’s what’s making PropTech the buzz word.

The highlight of the conference was the interactive session by Vivek Aggarwal, CTO, Square Yards. He spoke about “How technology is enabling sales velocity in the real estate sector”. Some very interesting data points were shared and were really appreciated by the audience at large.

What we enjoyed the most were great conversations with folks over lunch and coffee. The mood at the conference left us optimistic and richer by a few experiences and friends.
